1. Learning A New Language
Learning a new language shows not only interest in constant learning but also the ability to learn. Being multilingual also is beneficial in securing a place in a multinational company. Being able to speak another language gives many benefits at the work place, from translating documents to communicating between offices from different countries.

2. Volunteering
Volunteering shows two distinct things to employers. Firstly, it shows that you are trying to give back to society. It shines a positive light on you. And, secondly, it shows your ability to work in a team, communicate and take on leadership positions. You can volunteer for a variety of causes in many, many roles, everything from being a regular volunteer at a local soup kitchen, to teaching English to young children, to building houses.

3. Sports
Being involved in a competitive sport requires a great amount of time and dedication. Employers will see that you are able to handle your academic work along with sports. It will show them that you have the ability to manage yourself and your time. It also keeps you fit and gives your health a boost!

4. Musical Instrument
Learning to play a musical instrument shows a great deal of self-discipline and effort because it requires hours and hours of practice. It also highlights your creativity and skill. Performing in front of audiences (like in talent shows or recitals) can also demonstrate the ability to deal with high pressure.

5. Coding/Web Skills
Knowing how to code is always a good skill. It gives you an advantage over other candidates, regardless of the position. This is because in today’s tech-driven world, understanding the basics of coding means you will spend less time trying to troubleshoot your tools and more time working. Also, it gives you a more logical framework in terms of how you can process or plan out things. It can help you explain your ideas in a simpler, more direct fashion and also communicate better with people from tech-heavy backgrounds. Also, with these skills you could always create your own webpage/blog showcasing your work/writing/art, or even have a more creative resume when you apply for jobs and internships!
