If you have a good reservoir of general knowledge, a passion for words and a genuine concern for people and events, a degree in Journalism and other related courses - Mass Communications, English Literature, Media Arts, Creative Writing, etc.- could be right for you.

Journalism is one of the most revered and oldest professions in the world. It's no wonder why most reporters rate this job with high satisfaction. However, reporters earn a modest salary of about USD3,000 a month. Having said that, one must have a deep interest in writing, researching and editing.

2. Graphics Design

As more and more people read less, graphics designers especially those who can design websites, infographics, videos and mobile apps will be needed. These people help make content more fascinating because they know the right colours, fonts, and illustrations to go with every written word.

Graphic designers usually find jobs in media and publishing companies, advertising firms, and so forth whereas others prefer to do freelancing. The average monthly salary of a budding graphics designer is between USD2,000-USD2,200.

3. Marketing

Have you always enjoyed watching commercials, reading ads or even blogs promoting a service/product? Chances are you can be interested in marketing or other related courses such as Public Relations and Advertising. In this course, you'll learn about persuasive writing (yes, as they do need to sell an idea or a brand), social skills (you'll be meeting clients!), market research and a bit of sales (as you will help create tools/resources for the sales team).

Marketers earn about USD3,200 and above every month. Those who understand social media, SEO, Google Analytics, branding and so forth can command a higher monthly salary. 

4. Law

If you love to speak publicly, believe in justice and prefer logical thinking, then a bachelor's in law can be your ticket to an exciting! This course not only informs you about the law but it also trains your mind how to think and reason, properly. If you watch too many courtroom dramas on the telly, then that's just  a sample of what a fresh law graduate can do.

Remember, not all lawyers represent clients in court – they do many other things like draft agreements between parties, settle legal disputes, give advice on incorporating business, and many more. Because lawyers can apply their knowledge to many industries, their average monthly salary varies between USD6,000 and USD10,000 per month.

5. Psychology

Then a course in psychology can help satisfy your curiosity in human nature! Psychology aims to explain why people think and behave a certain way.

The field of psychology is a broad, one with a wide range of career options and the steps to becoming a psychologist will depend on the specific field of psychology you would like to specialise in.

6. Economics

Major in economics enables students to develop understanding of global economic issues, fiscal and monetary policies, demand and supply channels as well as value of sound business decisions through various capabilities of implementing economic efficiencies.
