Within this year’s top ten rankings, Brazil’s Universidade de Sao Paolo and Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp), and Chile’s Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chila (UC) continue to stay strong, maintaining their positions amongst the top three spots since 2014 - although UC as of yet is to recover its number one spot of two years ago.

Brazil, moreover, looks to be having a good year. Apart from Universidade de Sao Paolo, Unicamp and Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, which maintained their previous standings at 1st and 2nd spots, Brazil’s fourth entry Universidade de Brasilia, makes an improvement from 10th  to 9th place.

Likewise, Mexico advances as its universities make up two of the top ten as well, both, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) and Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey going up two places each, at 4th and 7th place, respectively.

Meanwhile, Universidad de Chile falls from number four  in 2015 to 6th  place in 2016. Colombia also staggers, as its Universidad de los Andes falls back one place to 8th  place, while its Universidad Nacional de Colombia enters the top ten this year, from rank 13 from previous year..
