Asking for the right information during the tour can help you make an informed decision. It is important that the right questions be asked in order to successfully sift the propaganda from information. Right questions are the ones that help you identify the answer to your biggest question which could be anything – academics, internship, safety or life at the campus. This also means that before the tour you should think about what's important to you. Identify questions that get information beyond what is contained in the prospectus and the website.

1) Why Did You Choose This University

The first question that we recommend asking the tour guide is about her personal experience and why she chose the university/college. Find out if they would change their decision if they could. The answer to this question would help look at the culture of the college from a student’s perspective. You would get an insight into what excites the students about the college.

2) Relationship With Professors And Classmates

The next important question to ask is about their relationship with the professors and classmates. Irrespective of your reasons for going to college the center point of all activity is going to remain academics. Interaction with the professors and fellow students will determine the academic culture of the institution. Answer to the question will help determine how the professors make themselves available for the students and if the environment in the classrooms is collaborative or competitive. You will be able to understand the expectations that the institution will have from you as a student.

3) Employability

Asking about how many students graduate with job offers is another important question. The aim of going to college is to get a degree that will help you get fruitful and satisfying employment. Answer to the question will provide an understanding of the position that the college enjoys in the industry and how successful are students in getting relevant employment. Ask for specific information with regards to the industries these students joined and let it help in your decision.

4) Various aspects of campus life

Campus life is not just about academics. Ask your tour guide how they enjoy themselves and what do they do over weekends. The answer will help get information about the social scene. Leisure activities, clubs, groups, associations can add value to the time you spend on the campus and your degree. This will provide information about the scene at parties, in the dorm and around the campus during weekends and weekdays.

5) Safety issues

Last but not the least it is important to ask about safety both in the city and the campus. Students are vulnerable to dangers of different sorts in college making safety at campus an important issue to be tackled. It is important to have answer to questions how safe will I be with my mates? How accessible are security personnel? How safe is the city for students? We strongly believe that it is better to be safe than sorry.

Life in college is something entirely new. It will set the pace and course your future is going to take. For making the best of this time, it is important that you make the right choice and deciding on an institute that helps meet the objectives that you have outlined for yourself.
