It is normal for people to fear taking risks, but for Chut Zahara, an Entrepreneurship student of Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UniRazak), it is essential for a person to succeed.
In this feature, the up-and-coming makeover specialist and the future business woman talked to us about making the right decisions, facing her fears, and looking forward to a fruitful future after graduation.
How did you decide on what course to study after your high school?
It took me awhile to decide on which course to study after high school. I've always liked the idea of studying business. I guess that is how I decided to take a business course.
Which university did you go to? And what made you decide to go there?
UniRazak KL offered me something other university didn't have, which is Bachelor of Entrepreneurship.
During the decision-making process, I sought help from my cousin to help me choose between Unirazak and anther university. We listed down the pros and cons before we came up with which one is best for me. I felt really good with the decision I made.
Share with us any memorable experience in your campus's life. What makes it unforgettable?
As an Entrepreneurship student, we have to create our own business and every semester we will be given a three-minute pitch about our business, not only to lecturers but even to potential investors. That is just priceless.
During this experience, we got to network and listen to these well-known entrepreneurs about their journey to success. I hope we'd be like them one day.
Being busy in school hasn't stopped Chut from doing freelance makeup gigs and even hosting makeup classes.
What are the top 3 tips you will give to students who would like to study the same course as you are?
- Make sure you have a business plan in mind. This course can help you build up the dream business.
- Always be open to suggestion from others to help you start your own business.
- Be confident whenever you have a pitch and be a risk taker.
What are the top five items you cannot live without during college?
- Mobile
- Laptop
- My 24 colours of pens
- Notebook
- My pair of Earphones
Apart being a beauty makeover specialist, Where do you see yourself in five years time?
In five years time, I see myself out there inspiring others to become an entrepreneur, to take the risk in making your dream come true. I believe if you don't even try, you will regret not doing the thing you've always wanted to do.
