Xiamen University Malaysia Now Accepting Students for Feb Intake

The new campus, which is located in Salak Tinggi, Sepang, Selangor, will be opened to the public from 8.30am to 4.30pm, from 17th of December whereas classes will commence on 22nd February. For this year, 500 students are expected to enroll at the new campus. Xiamen University in Xiamen, China is highly ranked at 37th in the “2016 Best Asia Universities Rankings” by US News.

This development was made possible by the Malaysian government when they invited Xiamen University to open a branch campus in Malaysia three years ago.
Xiamen University in China is well-known for its educational philosophy that brings teaching and research together to its students, encourages student’s individuality as well as provides rooms for students to develop their potential.
According to Prof Wang Ruifang, the president of XMUM, “at least 30 per cent of the teaching staff will be professors from XMU China while the rest of the lecturers recruited from other countries including Malaysia with at least 80 per cent possessing Ph.D. degrees.”
XMUM offers undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral courses and they will provide 10 degrees courses for its first batch of students in February 2016, which are listed as follows.
- Medicine (Traditional Chinese Medicine) &
- Arts and Social Science (Chinese Studies, Journalism) &
- Business (Accounting, Finance and International Business) &
- Engineering Technology (New Energy Science and Engineering) &
- Information Technology (Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering and Digital Media Technology).
Out of all the courses provided in XMUM, only Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Studies are conducted in Mandarin, and the rest are taught in English. Above all, the degree programmes offered are accredited by the Malaysian and Chinese government and what’s more exciting is that the XMUM graduates are given the privilege to further their studies or pursue their career in both countries.

The student population is expected to grow up to 5,000 in 2022 and will reach a maximum of 10,000. In order to encourage enrolment, the university is giving out Merit Scholarships for those who have come through their exams with flying colors. Moreover, there will be a student exchange programme with China, which allows students to have different studying experience.
