What is your overall opinion about this university/college? Monash might be a good place for international students to enrich their cultural knowledge as well as enhancing their academic skills. Be careful for not forgetting your English and ending up speaking in your national language, especially for future Indonesian students. Remember that Monash is an English-speaking country, so, it's wise to prepare your English skills well before and during your study in Monash. Overall, Monash is one of the easiest university to enter, especially for business-related majors. For postgraduate degrees, you need to meet a minimum requirement of 55% WAM in your Bachelor's GPA (equivalent to 2.2 out of 4). It's pretty easy compared to other Australian universities that require a minimum GPA of at least 2.6-3 out of 4, and you'll get top-notch education quality as well. What do students do when not studying? Tell us about the social and sports life. There are many kinds of social and sports activities that students can join in Monash. Registration for these kind of activities are usually open during the O-Week. As one of the Australian universities with the most number of Indonesian student, they have one of the biggest Indonesian community in Australia. Indonesian community in Monash is filled with Indonesian students who does not only value solidarity and cooperativeness but also have a high spirit of nationalism. It is evident, especially in their daily activities, which always involve pure-Indonesian cultural festival. One of the examples is Indonesian Food Festival. Since it's rare to find Indonesian foods in Australia, this festival is almost always crowded. Some Monash students also like volunteering. Students who have been awarded Monash International Leadership Scholarship have to participate in any of Monash marketing activities, including attending any education expo with Monash being one of the participants. How is the academic life at this university/college? I haven't actually studied at Monash but nearly 90% of my closest friends and connections who study in Australia end up studying in Monash. I also own their prospectus and have attended their question and answer events since I was in High School. So, I can say for most of its' academic life in general and its' student life inside and outside the university. Like most of the big-scaled Australian universities, Monash is big on their research. About 70-80% of their academic life is devoted on the research and new, groundbreaking findings that have an impact on other people's well-beings as well as impacting future development of similar researches. As a member of Australian's Group of Eight (GO8), Monash has an astounding quality of overall education, including the amount of expertises, professors, and lecturers. Students are encouraged to actively participate in every course they undertake, else, they will have difficulties in passing the courses. What are the students like? As mentioned before, Monash students are expected to be actively participating in any of courses they undertake, therefore, Monash students are known for their active demeanor. Aside from excellent academic record, Monash students have the most industrial outcome in or outside Australia. They have an astonishing amount of leadership skills as well as high academic skills. One of my English teachers is from Monash, and she is very bright, intelligent, and knowledgeable. She graduated from Bachelor of Economics, which is one of the most popular majors at Monash University. Monash students are also known for their relaxed, fun, and cooperative behavior, especially Undergraduate students who apply for Monash without any scholarships or financial aids. They have their own community in Monash's official housing called Monash Minds. Their community is open for local and international students, although most Monash students come from the international background. Again, international students have their own community based on their nationality which values solidarity and loyalty highly.
