How is the academic life at this university/college? The study is very intense with a lot of courses and projects but the feedback and amount of knowledge you get makes it worthwhilst. The proffessors get very personal and help a lot whilst making sure everyone is part of the class. However students are not competing that much with each other but the proffessors are very open outside of class. What are the students like? Students at Binus International University are usually very open and curious to meet foreign students. However when it comes to academic work they are not that competitive as many are not really interested in putting in the effort. So studying at Binus is beneficial if you can be individualistic and learn by yourself and study effectively alone because the majority of students are not too focused or interested in becoming high achievers. Which surprised me as an international student who expected more competitiveness as well as interest from the students in getting more knowledgeable in their chosen major. The student population is small and there is a small population of international students. What do students do when not studying? Tell us about the social and sports life. Binus International has a lot of on campus events and clubs such as Music Clubs, Dance clubs and Creative clubs however in terms of the sport life it lacks. There is little sports events but one has to take the nature of Jakarta into consideration and its hard to have after class sports life and have regular trainings due to the traffic which is unpredictable. Sports life could be improved however there is a very good gym next to the campus where a lot of students go and train together which I have used and has made staying healthy easier. What is your overall opinion about this university/college? Binus International University stands out from the other university as it has smaller classes consisting of maximum 30 students only allowing the students to get up closer first hand with the lecturers, ask more questions and interact more to enhance the learning experience. I really enjoy the smaller classes and smaller campus which allows one to get to know everyone better and also get more in touch with the lecturers so you can elaborate more on the chosen subject. Tell us about your overall experience in studying in this country Studying in Indonesia has proven to be very exciting. Being part of Asia’s growing economy and seeing how it all evolves will be a valuable experience to take with me through to my professional career. Learning soft skills such as working with diverse people, learning about new cultures and seeing the different values within Indonesia and Asia has helped me get a broader view and build a valuable network. I liked studying here and the fun thing here is there are so many different places to see, different people to meet and generally safe.
