Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology
About
The Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) profession is a key component within the allied health science (AHS) group, although it remains relatively unfamiliar to the general public due to its behind-the-scenes nature—unlike more visible roles such as nurses and medical assistants. Medical Laboratory Technologists form the backbone of medical laboratory services, playing an essential role in all phases of the laboratory process, from pre-clinical to clinical and post-clinical stages. These professionals support the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention of diseases through clinical laboratory testing.
SEGi College's Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology includes a 28-week Medical Laboratory Placement in the third year of study, giving students the opportunity for hands-on training in real healthcare settings. Graduates of this programme from SEGi College may pursue careers in various sectors, including government hospitals, private laboratories, reference laboratories, research institutions, technical services for medical suppliers and manufacturers, product development, and pharmaceutical companies.
