Keysight Technologies donates digital multimeter to Curtin Malaysia for research and teaching at Keysight Reference Lab

Miri – 1 December 2018 – Keysight Technologies, the world's leading electronic measurement company, recently donated a Keysight U1231A handheld digital multimeter (DMM) to the Faculty of Engineering and Science at Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) for research and teaching purposes.

The digital multimeter is a welcome addition to the wide range of Keysight handheld tools for electrical, electronic and industrial process testing donated by the company for use in the Keysight-Curtin Reference Laboratory at the university. They include power analysers, thermal imagers, digital oscilloscopes, clamp meters and other state-of-the-art equipment worth over RM300,000.

The digital multimeter was presented by Daniel Yap, Keysight’s Education Development Manager for Asia Pacific, on the sidelines of the recent Curtin University Technology, Science and Engineering (CUTSE) International Conference for which Yap was a keynote speaker. Receiving it on behalf of the university was Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive Professor Jim Mienczakowski.

Professor Mienczakowski said the university was proud to collaborate with a global company like Keysight to develop quality graduates in the field of electrical and electronic engineering, conduct relevant research, and train fresh graduates and professional engineers in the use of electronic measuring devices and instrumentation in Sarawak’s oil and gas and power-generation industries.

From electronics troubleshooting to installation and maintenance of machinery, Keysight handheld digital multimeters are designed to withstand the harsh working conditions and improve safety. Its ranges of handheld DMMs are also equipped with smart features to help users quickly detect problems and obtain accurate measurements.

The Keysight Reference Laboratory was established in 2014 to equip students and industry professionals with up-to-date technical knowledge and skills for a new era of technological advancement. By allowing students to learn with the latest industry-standard equipment, the laboratory has helped create a really technology-rich learning environment at Curtin Malaysia.

This followed the signing of a memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between Curtin Malaysia and Keysight Technologies in 2014 and in 2017 for collaboration in education, research, talent development and technical services.
