About German-Malaysian Institute
German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) was founded in 1991. GMI happened when Governments of Malaysia and Germany joint together. GMI provides a complete and effective training for practical and theoretical skills to their students. GMI provides engineering courses in full time diploma programmes or a pre-university programme such as A-Level, skills upgrading technical courses, train-the-trainers programmes, and industrial consultancy and services. German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) is an internationally known organization for providing high quality technical education, training and services for their students.

Accommodation
GMI admission offers new students accommodation (subject to availability) for RM900 per semester. Students are given the option to choose where they want to stay but are encouraged to stay in the hostel as the hostel is located within the campus which is gated and guarded 24-hours a day.
The hostel blocks are 6 high-rise elevated. There are basic facilities such as beds, mattresses, wardrobes, study tables and chairs are provided. Other facilities provided in the hostel are washing machines, pantry and TV Room. There are also cafeterias and a surau that is also located in the hostel area. Students may use the sports facilities at the Sports Complex which is located within walking distance from the student's hostel.
Campus
GMI's campus consist of an administration block, training blocks, trainee apartment complex, a surau, a staff residence complex, a sports complex, a multipurpose hall and a chiller plant. It is divided into five zones for administration purposes.
The building near main entrance of the institute is the Administration, Finance and Student Affairs Department (AFSA). The building consist of 4 sections of administration, an auditorium and an exhibition hall. The Resources Development Centre Department at Kompleks Teknologi 1, is nearby the Production Technology Department based at Kompleks Teknologi 2, 3 and 4, on its left. On the right is the Industrial Electronics Department at Kompleks Teknologi 5. Kompleks Teknologi 3 also houses GMI Technical & Consultancy Services on Level 4.
The Director’s Office is located on the top floor of KT5. Kompleks Teknologi 6 is where the chiller plant for the campus cooling system is located. The student centre located near KT1 and KT2. It offers various services such as convenient store, cafe with wi-fi connection, a cyber cafe and printing shop, the Student Representative Council (SRC) operations room and an automated teller machine.
