Reinforcing Sunway College’s impact on education, the institution has once again been recognised as Malaysia’s top-performing Cambridge provider.
Achieving the highest number of Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards every year since 2014, Sunway College continues to dominate, celebrating yet another milestone at the November 2024 Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (OCLA).
Country Director, Malaysia and Brunei, International Education, Cambridge University Press & Assessment, Ng Kim Huat, acknowledges, "Sunway College has consistently produced exceptional students, and I feel proud to see these young individuals shaping a brighter future with their ambition."
21 students from Sunway College were honoured with an impressive achievement of 22 A and AS Level distinctions including Top in Malaysia, Top in World, and High Achievement.
“We appreciate the recognition as the nation’s best-performing Cambridge provider, which reflects the outstanding efforts to student care that define Sunway College’s educational approach and longstanding achievement throughout the past decade,” says Ruth Cheah, Sunway College Cambridge GCE A-Level Director of Programme.
Achieving Top in Malaysia are Phang Jun Shen in AS Level for Biology and Gan En Chia in A Level for Accounting. Vong Jun Yi clinched the High Achievement award in AS Level for Thinking Skills.
“I am grateful for the scholarship provided by Sunway Education, which played a significant role in supporting my education and success,” remarks Phang, a recipient of the Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship.
The Jeffrey Cheah Foundation has awarded over RM745 million in scholarships to date, empowering thousands of deserving students across diverse fields of study.
Teoh Khai Xian, who earned two accolades in the AS Level—Top in the World for Further Mathematics and Mathematics—has also demonstrated his passion and ability to inspire as president of the Sunway Math Club.
“I was initially shocked to receive two awards, but then I felt incredibly excited. I am grateful to all my lecturers for their dedication in helping us succeed. Being president of the Sunway Math Club has also allowed me to connect with passionate peers and inspire others to appreciate the subject,” Teoh expressed.
Other students achieving Top in World awards for Mathematics in the AS Level are: Anronrienna Ngu Jin-E, Augustine Ang Uen Yu, Gregory Ong Yi Ren, Ho Lit Herng, Ho Zhengying, Khor Choong Ming, Lee Yen Qi, Lim Yen Hui, Ng Ning Wei, Ooi Che Zhong, Sean Yong Cheng Sean, Tan Chiang Loong, Tan Kian Yu, and Wong Yun Feng.
The students who achieved Top in World for A Level include Naisha Keng Siok Ying for Law, and Cheong Cheng Xin and Daniel Kan Wei Rong for Mathematics.
