Taylor’s Law School (TLS) recently hosted a delegation of law students and academic staff from the University of Adelaide. The Australian Federal government has been encouraging student mobility to Asia with funding channeled through its New Colombo Plan (NCP) initiative, and in 2015 Malaysia became a host country. For many years Taylor's University has had numerous links with various Group of Eight Australian universities, and we were pleased to reciprocate in hosting such a group of Australian students. TLS also really wanted to make this a way to facilitate better understanding between Malaysian and Australian students. The sessions put on by the Taylor’s Law School began with an introduction to the Malaysian Legal System followed by an overview on the application of Syariah/Islamic law in Malaysia – and both presentations ended with an extensive 15–minute Q&A session. The students from the Adelaide Law School then presented an overview on the Australian Legal System. There were also an experience-sharing sessions where students shared their experiences, such as participating in activities organised by the School and the Law Society. As one student pointed out, "It was a great opportunity for everyone to exchange ideas and knowledge as well as forging friendships".
