About this course

This program will produce graduates who can work as Assistant Town Planner in government and private sector or any related industry. The graduates may also further their studies for a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning or bachelor in any related field at local or foreign universities.

A graduate of this programme should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate semi-professional competency as a result from knowledge gained in urban and regional planning.
  2. Solve technical problems in urban and regional planning and able to work in a multidiscipline group.
  3. Involve in community activities or professional organizations or make contributions towards society.
  4. Continue their education to a higher level and self development as a professional.

Entry Requirements

A) GENERAL MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Obtained a pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualifications, with a minimum of FIVE (5) credits (GRADE C) inclusive of a credit in Bahasa Melayu, and a pass (GRADE E) in History at the SPM level.

B) SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

1. Obtained credits (GRADE C) in the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • THREE (3) other subjects (NOT inclusive of previously listed subjects with credits)

2. Obtained a pass (GRADE E) in English Language.

Candidates for Diploma in Architecture programme need to pass a test and an interview carried out by the university. OR

A) GENERAL MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Obtained a pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualifications, with a minimum of FOUR (4) credits (GRADE C) inclusive of a credit in Bahasa Melayu subject, and a pass (GRADE E) in History subject at the SPM level.

B) SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

1. Obtained credits (GRADE C) in THREE (3) other subjects (NOT inclusive of previously listed subjects with credits).

2. Obtained credits (GRADE C) in the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • English Language

3. Obtained a pass in Pre-Diploma (non-Engineering), and obtained credits (GRADE C) in all subjects, with a minimum of:

  • CGPA 2.50 in the programme of Diploma in Computer Science.
  • CGPA 2.00 in the programmes of other than Diploma in Computer Science.

Students who are admitted to the university without credits in Mathematics (for the programmes of Diploma in Computer Science and Diploma in Quantity Surveying) are required to take Mathematics at the SPM level and obtain a minimum of a credit (GRADE C) before graduating in order to obtain the award of a diploma conferred by the University.

Co-Curriculum Service Learning, Land Use Planning, Survey & Statistical Techniques, Rural Planning and Development, Studio 3: Layout 2 (Business Park), Communication Skills, Geographic Information System in Planning, Urban Design, Urban Engineering, Studio 4: Layout 3 (Mixed-Development and Development Proposal Report),

Year 3

Industrial Training, Industrial Training Report and Seminar, Urban Economics, Planning Law and Practice, TrafficEngineering, Studio 5: Urban Area Improvement Study.
