About Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia

Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia was formerly known as Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik (PLSP). It was established on 16th September 1993. On April 12, 1996 the institution upgraded to Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO) and later on 27th September 2000, ITTHO was awarded a university-college status. On February 1, 2007, the institution received full university status and on March 2, 2007, was changed to Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).

Its namesake patron Tun Hussein Onn played a significant role in solving problems for the country's safety. He was renowned being very sincere in his effort for racial unity in Malaysia. He was a disciplined person and the title given to him was 'Father of Unity', The acronym of his first name, titleates the university's goals:

UTHM specializes in various fields:

The University has two campuses, namely, the Parit Raja campus and the Pagoh campus.

Campus information

On-campus facilities:

  • Lecture Hall, Theatre Room & Tutorial Room - For the purpose of teaching and learning activities, the University provides lecture halls, examination halls, classrooms, seminar rooms and theatre rooms.
  • Transportations - From 7 am to 11 pm every day.
  • Library - Seating capacity of more than 3,000 students. 
  • Mini Post Office - One stop payment centre, postal order, registered letter and parcel services.
  • Laboratories
  • Residential Colleges - There are 2 hostels located available in the campus for postgraduate students. 
  • Career and Counseling Services
  • Medical and Health Services - health support services, emergency treatments.

  • Sport and Recreation Facilities - Football field, rugby field, hockey field, netball court, handball court, volleyball court, sepak takraw court, badminton hall, basket ball court, squash court, etc.

  • Mosque - The mosque is able to fit 1000-1200 people at a time.

UTHM provides accommodations, from single room halls to family houses. Every accommodation is situated within Parit Raja town and Batu Pahat district.

At UTHM, the accommodation where students stay is called a "Kolej Kediaman" (KK), or Residential College. The accommodation is divided into two categories, in campus and off campus. Every student who studies there will be provided with campus accommodation.

The experience is alright if you study at Parit Raja campus, lots of things to do there. Meanwhile if you get a placement at Pagoh campus, you're not going to like it. Boring is an understatement. Choose Parit Raja campus, it's a better choice.
