The Frankfurt Style Award is an established international talent contest for fashion & design. For eight years running, the competition has given young fashion design students a horizon of opportunities to optimize their creativity and showcase their skills and talents to the broad public. 325 sketches from 260 fashion design talents participated in the Frankfurt Style Award 2015. 60 of the best upcoming designers worldwide qualified for the Frankfurt Style Award Finale, out of which 10 were all from Raffles Singapore.
The competition was held at a unique event location right in the FRAPORT Forum of Frankfurt Airport where the designers were offered a high-profile global networking and presentation platform. They celebrated the award ceremony and prize-granting on 5th September 2015.
“I still feel that this is surreal. I consider this as my point of beginning and motivator to do better works. I am very satisfied and thankful on how Raffles College motivates and support the students to get chances in many competitions regionally and internationally. As a future designer this is a big opportunity to develop my skill in wider scale and show my talent towards media.” Emerentia Wardoyo ONG remarked.
Emerentia’s design inspiration was her consideration towards the damage of sea biodiversity. “As an Indonesian, in which Indonesia is an archipelago with many ocean habitats around the country, wrecked coral is considered as the main ecological issue in my country. Because of that, I feel that my dress needs to convey this consideration message as an ecological design.”
Raffles Singapore has always been seeking opportunities and platforms for Raffles students to present their work. Frankfurt Style Award is an excellent platform for Raffles Designers to showcase their capbilities on an international stage, gain international exposure and broaden their portfolio through such international competitions.
