Entry Requirements
- You should have ONE of the following qualifications in the relevant subject area:
- BTEC Level 3 in Construction and the Built Environment
- Strong performance in a relevant subject at A-level or an adequate performance in more than one A-level subject
- Another related Level 3 qualification
- Access to Higher Education Certificate awarded by an approved further education institution
- Relevant work experience.
Curriculum
Students will take eight units. Four are mandatory:
- Design Principles and Application for Construction and the Built Environment
- Science and Materials for Construction and the Built Environment
- Group Project in the Construction Industry
- Health, Safety and Welfare for Construction and the Built Environment.
The four optional units are chosen on the basis of your tutor’s area of expertise, as well as industry requirements. Typical topics are:
- Management Principles and Application for Construction and the Built Environment
- Construction and Maintenance of Buildings
- Technology of Complex Buildings
- Law and Contract for Construction and the Built Environment
- Contractual Procedures and Procurement for Construction and the Built Environment
- Measuring, Tendering and Estimating for Construction and the Built Environment
- IT Applications for Construction
- Computer-Aided Design for Construction
- Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation.
