How is the academic life at this university/college? The academic life is very different at Richmond, compared to other UK/US universities. Our classes are small, around 30 students in each, and that means we have a different type of lectures. Most professors will split their lecture up, so that the first meeting of the week is the professor giving a lecture on the theory studied for the particular week, and the following meet is more of a discussion/debate based lecture where students get the chance to speak their opinion. It is also very easy to book a meeting with a professor, to discuss an essay due, a presentation coming up or simply to get further explanation about a topic from class. Our faculty is very opted on helping students through their courses and try their best to offer advice throughout the courses. What are the students like? Students are very diverse, with many different nationalities and backgrounds. It's not a lie to say we come from all over the world! I find the students at Richmond very open-minded and easy going. And being a small university, you get the chance to get to know almost everyone here. What do students do when not studying? Tell us about the social and sports life. Most students take advantage of our common room in between classes. We have a university football (soccer) team that plays in the London University League and many other sports activities such as Basketball tournaments and Yoga. As we don't have many facilities on campus we work together with facilities within our community, being Richmond. We also have quite a large range of clubs and societies for students to participate in. Some of these clubs have interests in fashion, finance, psychology, the environment, afro-Caribbean culture. Our student affairs department also does a great job of hosting fun events every week. Just recently, we have had international week with lot of diverse cultural experiences, a slumber party, Halloween. What is your overall opinion about this university/college? I am very happy with my choice to go to Richmond. I came here with very high expectations and I am glad to say that they were all met. It is such an amazingly diverse and international environment to be living in and I love to have the opportunity to learn from other cultures on a daily basis. Tell us about your overall experience in studying in this country Studying in London, is the greatest gift I gave myself! London is a city full of events, beautiful places that are simply waiting for you come around to experience them. There is always something to do, a new place to see!
