Curriculum

You’ll be joining a creative hub of innovative design studios based within the adjoining School of Arts and Digital Industries. You’ll be able to observe other design projects, share ideas, participate in cross-curricular competitions and enjoy evening lectures from inspiring designers.

With a personal tutor to oversee your progress and module leaders for each part of the course, you’ll work independently and occasionally in small groups on design briefs and projects in our dedicated design studios.

Our product design facilities include traditional workshops and computer aided design (CAD) suites where you can use a range of two-and three-dimensional programmes to produce rendering and prototyping information. We also have a fully equipped model-making workshop, run by skilled and experienced technicians.

We run prototyping services such as that advanced computer manufacturing process that includes 3D printing, laser cutting and computer routing.

You’ll also have access to UEL’s impressive Knowledge Dock building - a business incubation centre that provides space, equipment and services for start-up enterprises.

During each year of your course, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in a study trip abroad to look at places of manufacture as well as leading museums and exhibitions. We’ve travelled right across Europe and also further afield to countries such as Japan and South Korea.
