What subjects does the University of Sussex rank well for?

When choosing a university in the UK, you want to choose a university that you can trust, that is well regarded, and above all delivers great teaching. In the UK, the latest university rankings table to be published is the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The University of Sussex was ranked 14th in the UK, 43rd in Europe and 111th in the world by the THE rankings in 2014-15. But UK universities aren’t only ranked overall, they’re ranked by subject too.

When you’re focused on a particular area of study or research, it’s worth checking exactly what the universities you’re considering offer in that particular subject area. How does the teaching rate? How well is that particular department funded? Does the university specialise in this area? What about its published research in this area.

The University of Sussex has an outstanding level of graduate employment, with science-based degree courses like Physics with AstrophysicsMathematics with Physics, and Chemistry and Drug Discovery ranking very highly in terms of graduate prospects and student satisfaction, according to the Complete University Guide.

In the humanities areas, all of Sussex’s Drama degree courses – with Theatre and Performance, with English, and with Film Studies – as well as the department’s English degree courses, ranked very highly in terms of student satisfaction with the course, and employment performance following graduation.

You can check out all of the University of Sussex’s latest rankings in the About Us section of the university website.

If you’d like to apply for an undergraduate or postgraduate place at the University of Sussex from overseas, you might want to consider the University’s International Study Centre as your entry point.
