Entry Requirements

  • GCSE: For all applicants, Grade C or above, or Grade 4 under newly reformed GCSE grading, in English Language and Mathematics, or equivalent. Please note the University does not accept Level 2 Key Skills, Functional Skills or Certificates in Adult Numeracy and Literacy as suitable alternatives to GCSEs.
  • A-level subjects: No specific subjects required. Points from General Studies and AS-Level subjects (not taken onto full A-Level) can be included towards overall tariff. You must have a minimum of two A-Levels.
  • EDEXCEL (BTEC) Diploma: No specific subjects required.
  • Access: Achievement of the Access to HE Diploma; to include 15 level 3 credits at merit.
  • Baccalaureate IB: No specific subjects required.

Year 1

Modules provide an introduction into the valuation of property; landlord and tenant law; and building construction. You will develop an insight into the legal system and economic forces and their impact on planning and professional practice. Studies will also be given industrial context through employer visits and visiting RICS professionals.

Year 2

As you progress, you will put these concepts into practice. This is through valuing property for different purposes; utilising landlord and tenant law in property management; and forming part of an interdisciplinary team addressing sustainability issues.

*Optional placement year

All students are encouraged to spend their third year on placement. The curriculum in the second year includes support finding this placement. Students who undertake a placement year will complete a workbased research project.

Final year

During your final year, you will deepen your understanding of valuation through its application to real-world scenarios. You will learn about commercial agency and the international environment for property management. You will also develop a site as part of an interdisciplinary team and focus on your chosen area of interest in a dissertation.
