Entry Requirements

The entry requirements for the MA Management are:

A first or second class undergraduate honours degree from a UK university or overseas equivalent, or a professional qualification and/or experience considered to be equivalent to the above;

A reference from a tutor who has supervised your undergraduate studies;

If English is not your first language, TOEFL score of 550 or above, an IELTS score of 6.0 or above or evidence of English proficiency equivalent to the above is required.

Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL): students may apply for up to 90 credits of APL (APCL and/or APEL), subject to the guidelines set out in the UWBS APL Guidelines (2006).

Curriculum

You will study for the course through a range of learning environments such as live case studies, visiting speakers and blend of online and traditional learning.

Typical modules include:

Managing Human Resources

Explore and analyse the HRM role in organisations particularly the link with how people are managed at work. Consider HRM and organisational performance and contemporary management issues such as leadership, people development, diversity and downsizing

Operations Management

Consider a broad range of operations management problems, tools and knowledge facing managers working in modern organisations. Develop your project management skills in an international and global context

Marketing Management

Understand the importance of the organisational environment and the impact this has for analysis, planning and control in a marketing management context. Develop the skills set required in order to be an enterprising and creative marketer.

Accounting for Business

Understand the importance of the organisational environment and the impact this has for analysis, planning and control in a marketing management context. Develop the skills set required in order to be an enterprising and creative marketer.

Managing Across Borders

Focus on the need for communication strategies which take into account cultural variation and preference. Develop knowledge underpinning intercultural communication within an international context

Strategic Business Planning

Integrate strategic understanding and functional thinking (such as marketing and finance) within the framework of a business plan and its associated processes

You will undertake an Independent Business Analysis Project, which runs throughout your course.

MA Management students will join with peers from other postgraduate courses offered by the University of Wolverhampton Business School on a weekend residential where you will be able to experience these issues in action, combining an authentic business experience with an opportunity to work and socialise with others and an opportunity to see some of Britain’s unique heritage.
