About Academy for Five Element Acupuncture

In keeping with the classical teachings of the Su Wen and the Nan Jing, Academy for Five Element Acupuncture has been instructing students for over twenty years in the healing arts of the Five Element tradition. Rooted in the ancient wisdom of the Five Elements and traditional Taoism, our curriculum teaches students to see people not only as they present themselves in illness, but more importantly as they would be when in health and balance.

We are a not-for-profit graduate institution and one of only four accredited acupuncture and Oriental medicine institutions in the country offering a curriculum with a dedicated focus on the Five Element tradition. In addition to our Master of Acupuncture degree program, we also offer a Certificate in Chinese Herbal Studies. Taken together, these two programs enable students to integrate the physical symptoms of illness without separating emotional and spiritual ailments. This approach provides a truly holistic system of medicine.

Campus information

In 2007, the Academy moved from South Florida to its newly owned and renovated campus building in Gainesville, Florida.

Gainesville is located in North Central Florida and the Academy is situated in the historic downtown area in the heart of the city. With affordable housing, a commitment to health and the environment, a pleasant climate and ample educational opportunities, national magazines and news sources have consistently ranked Gainesville as one of the best cities in the country to live.

Accommodation

For the first two years of the program, during the intensive sessions, students who do not live locally must arrange short-term housing accommodations for themselves. The Academy can suggest options for short-term housing to enrolled students upon request, but it is the students’ responsibility to make their own arrangements.
