About Eastern Maine Community College

astern Maine Community College provides the highest quality post-secondary technical, career and transfer education and serves as a dynamic community and economic development resource.

EMCC is a two-year college specializing in technical, career and transfer education. Students feel comfortable and at home in this environment in which personal attention is given to each of the 2,550 students enrolled in programs or taking courses.

EMCC’s focus is associate degrees which prepare students for professional employment in highly technical fields. The associate degree in Liberal Studies and most other EMCC programs may be transferred to many of Maine’s four-year colleges and universities toward completion of a bachelor’s degree.

Education is lifelong. Students come to Eastern Maine Community College straight from high school, from the working world, and from the employment office. We offer a complete college experience that considers the needs of all of our students: campus housing, intercollegiate athletics and a variety of clubs, organizations and activities. Also, convenient multi-location access and a range of alternate scheduling options are available so students can attend classes where they live and work.

Campus information

The beautiful tree-lined campus has undergone a transformation over the past five years with the addition of a campus green and walking track in the heart of campus and the renovation and construction of a new campus center and residence hall.

The campus is comprised of five classroom buildings, a gymnasium and two residence halls. Katahdin Hall is home of the Enrollment Center, dining facility, Technical Resource Center, Library, John Rohman Art Gallery and a childcare center which is operated by Penquis and which also serves as an instructional “lab” for our Early Childhood Education program.

Located in the heart of Bangor, our 72-acre campus is adjacent to the Hogan Road exit off Interstate 95—just a short distance from Eastern Maine Medical Center, downtown Bangor, and the Bangor Mall—and is served by public transportation

Studies show that students that live on campus have higher GPAs, are more likely to complete their education and, as a whole, get more out of their college experience.

When you reside on-campus, there is always someone around and always something to do. You have easy access to Student Services and form stronger friendships with other students. Each semester, numerous recreational and educational activities are scheduled for residents to participate in.
