About University of Southern Indiana

The University of Southern Indiana (USI) was founded in 1965, the university is a public university that is located outside of Evansville in Vanderburgh County, Indiana, United States. USI is one of the fastest growing comprehensive state universities in Indiana.

USI offers a wide range of degree programs in several study areas of business, education, engineering, health professions, liberal arts, and science over its 4 colleges, which are the College of Business, College of Liberal Arts, College of Nursing and Health Professions, as well as Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education. There are over 70 undergraduate majors, 10 master's programs, and one doctoral program. USI provides internships, co-op, study abroad and community engagement in order to increase students' experiential learning opportunities.

In the 2012 U.S. News & World Report rankings, USI's online graduate degree nursing program was ranked 15th in the categories of Admissions Selectivity and Faculty Credentials and Training. USI also received a Top 5 ranking in its Master of Science in Health Administration degree from, a consumer group that reviews and ranks online degrees for cost, quality, and credibility.

Campus information

The campus offers an ideal and friendly study environment. USI has 14 major buildings and provides suite-style housing and modern apartments for students living on the campus.

The five-story David L. Rice Library features computer access, copy machines, study room and etc.

The Physical Activities Center, The Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center, outdoor playing fields, and the walking and biking trails on campus allow students to experience a full range of activities.

Indoor walking/running track, cardio training machines, game room, indoor/outdoor basketball courts, rock-climbing wall and etc are featured in the Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center.

USI's campus is situated in the Midwestern state of Indiana.

Indiana is an important farming and manufacturing state, rich in natural resources, including coal and limestone.

The Metropolitan Evansville Transit System (METS) is the operating bus service, easily accessible to major shopping and cultural destinations in the city, as well as on a limited basis to USI campus. Evansville is a two- to three-hour drive to a some of the major cities in United States, such as Indianapolis, Indiana; Cincinnati, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; and Nashville, Tennessee.
