5 Futuristic Technologies That May Come True (Or Are Already Here)

#1 Microsoft Holo Lens
Earlier this year, Microsoft introduced a crazy-sounding holodeck for your face. The HoloLens is not a virtual reality headset, like the Oculus Rift . Instead, HoloLens puts its floating windows and holographic dogs into the real world. Into your living room. These illusions—images that change like real objects as you move your head, and noise that sounds like its anchored to a real place—add up to a holographic illusion that is apparently pretty eerily convincing.
#2 Personal Robot
New York startup Robotbase is turning to Kickstarter to build “Personal Robot” that would serve as a smart personal assistant for your home. This robot is equipped with plenty of sensors and a good dose of artificial intelligence. Soon, you’ll be coming home and a robot will greet you at the door. While you were away, it will patrol your home too! (and lock the door if you’re forgetful)
#3 The Monaco 2050
Anyone who's seen The Wolf of Wall Street knows that a yacht with a helicopter on top is pretty much the pinnacle of pimped-out nauticalness -- so it stands to reason that the next logical step would be a yacht with a private jet on top. Take a look at the futuristic mega-yacht from billionaire adventurer, Vasily Klyukin. The Monaco 2050 can sail both sea and sky with its impressive technology borrowed from military jets.
#4 Ultrahaptics
An impressive new tactile interface called Ultrahaptics, is poised to allow users to "feel in mid air". It uses ultrasound to create a force field, letting you feel tactile sensations in midair without any need for gloves or fancy accessories. The possibilities for such an interface are endless: paired with an Oculus Rift, it could provide real-time tactile feedback while watching a movie or playing a game. It also could change the way we shop online, making it possible to feel fabrics and materials that you would normally have to go to a store for, as well as the way we communicate: just like the tactile tap feature on the Apple Watch.
#5 Hop! The Following Suitcase
Hauling luggage through the airport can be a pain. A new suitcase called only "Hop" is looking to change all of that, though, using signals from your cell phone to go hands-free. Hop follows behind you at a distance, so you don't have to worry about it "stepping" on your heels. If it loses the signal it's following, your phone will vibrate, letting you know that your poor suitcase is lost and alone in a sea of strange people. Although only in prototype stage, it has received real interest, including a James Dyson Award.
Prepare to welcome some of these mindblowing technologies into your home by 2030; and, yes, we just may get our flying cars after all.
