Entry Requirements

A level
Offers in grade range CCD to BCC to include Grade C or above in Geography.

Applicants may satisfy the requirement for the third A level grade by substituting a combination of alternative qualifications to the same standard as defined by UCAS.

BTEC
Overall award profile in range MMM (minimum 13 merits) to DMM (minimum 7 distinctions). Only Geography-based BTECs acceptable.

Irish Leaving Certificate
Offer in range B2B2C1C3C3 to B2B2C1C1C1 to include Geography.

Applicants must also have Higher Level English and Mathematics Grade D or above or Ordinary Level English and Mathematics Grade C or above.

International Baccalaureate
Overall International Baccalaureate profile minimum 24 points to include 12 at higher level to include Geography.

Access to Higher Education (HE)
Pass Certificate in Foundation Studies/Access course with overall average in range 60 to 65% including 60 - 65% in all level 3 modules.

GCSE
You must satisfy the General Entrance Requirements for admission to a first degree course and hold GCSE passes in English Language and Mathematics at Grade C or above (or equivalent).

English language requirements for international applicants
The minimum requirement for this course is Academic IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5. Trinity ISE: Pass at level III also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.

Applicants may also meet the course entry requirements with combinations of the different qualifications to the same standard as defined by UCAS (provided subject requirements as noted above are met). Examples of acceptable combinations include:

  • 2 A Levels and BTEC Subsidiary Diploma
  • OCR National Diploma and BTEC Subsidiary Diploma
  • 2 A Levels and Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma
