Entry Requirements
200 UCAS points from A-Levels or equivalent qualifications. AS Levels may not be counted towards the points total.
GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent.You will be required to attend a practical group audition.
Entry to this course requires a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. Mature applicants will be considered, on merit, upon receipt of formal application.
One of the criteria for successful entry onto the course is the receipt of a satisfactory reference.
In addition, students should show evidence of experience in drama/creative writing through formal study of drama/creative writing at school/college and/or examinations from drama/creative writing organisations, participation in community classes/youth drama/creative writing groups, and so on.

Curriculum
Across the disciplines you can specialise in different strands of work including physical theatre; contemporary writing techniques in poetry and prose; popular performance; and applied drama. Throughout your studies you will engage with the concept of being enterprising in your approach to developing a career in drama and creative and professional writing.
In your first year, you will acquire subject-specific knowledge and a portfolio of key skills, through the study of drama and creative and professional writing skills; international and historical perspectives on drama and writing; and techniques for intending teachers.
In your second year, you will develop an understanding of why and how the performance practices of drama and creative and professional writing work in different contexts by engaging with modules including drama and writing in educational and community contexts; stand-up comedy and writing for performance.
In your third year, you will apply your knowledge, skills and understanding to real world settings and will have the chance to work as a semi-independent professional. You will be engaged in a substantial year-long project that will enhance your employability and deepen your knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to creative and professional writing and drama.
Our working methods place an emphasis on the value of shared experiences, provided by group work. You will have opportunities to create your own, original work. The course allows you to combine creative and critical thinking, with the aim to challenge conventional thinking and traditional practice.
